The walk from the park entrace (the tree above) to the peak (left) is around 3.2 miles roundtrip with 1100 ft elevation gain. The trail upto the saddle is very sandy, but from the saddle up its solid ground.

 

Doesn't look like much here, but on a clear day the 360 degree view from the peak offers a near religious experience.

DIRECTIONS: From the San Fernando Valley, take I-5 north, merge onto SR-14 (Antelope Valley Freeway), exit 20th Street West, then go right (eastbound) on Avenue J. The park enterance is on the right side of Avenue J just past 170th St. East. This is roughly a 70 minute drive from Sylmar in the San Fernando Valey.
