Cherry Canyon Open Space (La Canada)
Several loops and trails, all less than two to five miles round-trip.
Dawn Mine, Millard Canyon (Altadena)
Take a short, breathtaking walk to the river or travel upstream to the remains of Dawn Mine.
Deukmejian Wilderness Park (La Crescenta)
Short, fun hike with a great view of Crescenta Valley (1mile loop). Entrance to a longer hikes in the San Gabriels (washed out recently)
Devil's Chair (Palmdale Area)
Nice 6 or 7 mile hike on level ground to a spectacular view from the chair.

Gabrielino National Recreation Trail (Altadena)
Easy walk from NASA's Jet Propulsion Labratory to the Gould Campground in the the Angeles forrest.
Hahamonga Watershed Park (Arroyo Seco, Pasadena)
Easy walk from NASA's Jet Propulsion Labratory to the dam at Devil's Gate with an extention south to the Rose Bowl.
Hansen Dam (Lake View Terrace)
Easy, flat four mile walk with spectacular views.
Los Angeles County Arboretum (Arcadia)
Not exactly a place for hiking, but you will walk your buns off seeing everything this great place has to offer .
Lower Arroyo Seco Natural Park (Arroyo Seco, Pasadena)
Easy walk following the LA river south from the Rose Bowl.
Inspiration Point (Mt. Lowe, Altedna)
Sunset Ridge to Inspiration Pt retur Echo Mtn (5.5 hrs) or Sunset Ridge to Echo Mtn (3 hrs).
Rocky Peak (Chatsworth)
Rocky Peak Fire Road (five miles round-trip with 1100 foot gain).
Saddleback Butte State Park (Hi Vista, Palmdale)
A modest hike up switchback trails to the top for a spectacular view of the Mojave desert floor.
Sturtevant Falls, Chantry Flats (Arcadia)
Pleasant 45 minute walk through very cool, shaded canyons with a brisk 500 foot climb on the return trip.
Vasquez Rocks (Aqua Dulce)
Cool rock formations; not much hiking. Where they filmed the Flinstones.
Verdugo Mountains State Park (Glendale)
Lots of fire roads to great views of the San Gabriel and San Fernando Valleys.
Wildwood Park (Thousand Oaks)
Waterfalls, cool trees, easy hiking trails, and great vistas.)
